The latest HTC squad member, HTC Touch Diamond, might as well be starting a new era for Microsoft OS-powered mobiles. Never before has Windows Mobile looked this sharp, nor has it been as feature-loaded. Gem-inspired design, VGA screen, GPS and a built-in accelerometer might just be enough to get WinMo fans exited but the HTC Touch Diamond reaches beyond. A usable 3 megapixel camera and the latest edition of the TouchFLO UI are running on the brand new 6.1 version of the Windows Mobile Professional OS. And all that is packed into a package that’s as...

Samsung and Soul know better than simply recasting a slider as a bar. Samsung G400 Soul is the one Soul family member that easily gets singled out. The clamshell phone pulls off near RAZR size and style (save for the thickness), and boasts the unique dual screen setup and a 5 megapixel autofocus camera. Actually, this is the first 5 MP clamshell ever, though for some reason Samsung chose not to pitch that in their promos. Anyway, the G400 is one heavy piece of skill and style. And even if it’s the odd one in terms of looks, it seems set to live up...

Asus P750 lands on the crowded Windows Mobile Pro scene but it sure isn’t dropped defenseless. The Asus PocketPC is among the best equipped Windows Mobile devices on the market. A hardware multi-tap keyboard to back up that 2.6″ TFT touchscreen, HSDPA, fast 520 MHz Marvel CPU, Wi-Fi, built-in SiRF Star III GPS, stereo Bluetooth and a 3 megapixel autofocus camera certainly sound like the right ammo to take on HTC-branded devices. Key features: Windows Mobile 6.0 Pro UMTS/HSDPA 3.6Mbps support with video calls 2.6″ 65K-color TFT touchscreen...

Soul b is the only handset in the lineup to miss a 5-megapixel shooter. As for the rest, the pedigree is there. The ultra thin but solid brushed metal bar goes beyond looks and style. Samsung U800 Soul b boasts 3.6 Mbps HSDPA, a 16M-color QVGA display, 3 MP camera with LED flash and 1GB of microSD-expandable onboard memory. Key features: 2.0″ 16M-color TFT LCD display of QVGA resolution 3G with HSDPA (3.6Mbps) support 1GB of onboard memory, microSD expansion Nice and responsive D-pad Cool brushed metal casing Just 9.9mm thickness 3 megapixel camera...

The Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot has managed to create a real stir in the mobile community. It’s the first GSM handset that ships with the whopping 8 megapixels worth of camera goodies and such things simply cannot go unnoticed. You’ve probably already gone through the news scoop and you know the sweet details – face detection, smart contrast, both a xenon flash and a photo flash, as well as geotagging complete the camera feature set. A 2.4-inch QVGA TFT display with scratch-resistant mineral glass cover will serve you as a viewfinder. he...

Love it or leave it won’t do here, we’re afraid. Love it or hate it is more like it. There’s so much to get excited about with Nokia N78. The excellent display and capable camera, topped with Navi wheel, FM transmitter, GPS and Wi-Fi sure round off a nice deal. And yes, the latest FP 2 is a downright treat. If only… Well, you must know already what we think of the package. Anyway, you’re welcome to read on. Nokia N78 has a whole review up ahead to unleash its potential and a lifetime to beg for a facelift. Key features: 2.4″...

Actually, the MDA Compact IV is the T-Mobile version of the HTC Touch Diamond with a revamped design – a bit larger, more rounded edges, and most importantly – a lot lighter at 98 g as compared to 110 g of the HTC Touch Diamond. The proprietary 3D TouchFLO menu is also changed – now it turns up in white and magenta colors. The system RAM however has shrunk to 128MB as opposed to 192MB in the HTC Touch Diamond. By the way O2 also have their own incarnation of the HTC Diamond platform called quite expectedly the O2 XDA Diamond. All the other...

Samsung are obviously not of two minds about two-in-one phones. A new dual SIM handset – the Samsung D780 – is underway and it’s intended as a more affordable dual SIM solution as compared to the D880 Duos. On the outside, there’s nothing cool about Samsung D780 and that’s fine by us. The new dual SIM bar means business and its top skill is well tucked under the battery. What you get is quality of build, comfy large keyboard and friendly handling. A big fella by all means, the D780 is a sensible piece of dual SIM action. Key...

It’s no news any more that we’ve been playing with one of the hotties of the season for some time now. Sony Ericsson W980 made a glorious entrance but we’re yet to see about the exit. Set to top the Walkman feature phone lineup, W980 carries along 8 GB worth of storage, a 3 megapixel camera and a built-in accelerometer. The touch-sensitive keys and the latest Sony Ericsson feature phone interface add to the excitement. Still not interested? Then try to think of another music phone with a built-in FM transmitter! Key features: 2.2″...

Sony Ericsson R306 Radio is quite unusually set to revolve around one single thing – listening to radio on-the-go. Its built-in radio tuner works in both FM and AM. The lower midrange R306 Radio delivers on other fronts too – it packs a 1.3 megapixel camera plus Bluetooth and USB connectivity. It’s compact enough but also offers two surprisingly capable stereo speakers. How’s that for a flashback to the time when family life revolved around the radio. The dedicated external radio keys complete the feature set of that nifty little...
